Court Mandated Therapy Services

LWRCares Counseling & Wellness

Court requirements can feel stressful and confusing. My goal is to make the process clear, respectful, and actually helpful for your life. Court mandated therapy at LWRCares combines accountability with practical tools for real change.

As an LLMSW in the State of Michigan, I provide psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and behavior change programs under clinical supervision. I do not complete forensic or custody evaluations. I do provide structured clinical services that many Michigan courts, probation officers, attorneys, and agencies accept to meet counseling requirements.

Programs Offered

Each program is delivered through individual therapy sessions. Frequency and length can be adjusted to match your court order and personal needs.

Anger Management

A structured, therapeutic anger management program that includes:

  • Identifying triggers and high risk situations
  • Cognitive behavioral strategies for thoughts, feelings, and actions
  • Emotional regulation and self calming tools
  • Healthy communication and conflict skills

Clients who complete the program receive a clinical completion letter.

Domestic Violence Intervention Support

A therapeutic program that addresses:

  • Accountability and responsibility for harm
  • Recognizing the cycle of violence and power dynamics
  • Emotional regulation and impulse control
  • Building safe, respectful relationship patterns

This is a clinical support program, not a certified Batterer Intervention Program. Some courts may still approve this option when a certified BIP is not specifically required.

Alcohol and Substance Misuse Therapy

Therapy for clients with alcohol or drug related charges or conditions of probation. The work may include:

  • Motivational interviewing to explore change
  • Cognitive behavioral strategies for cravings and triggers
  • Relapse prevention planning
  • Supportive coordination with other recovery resources

Parenting and Co Parenting Therapy

For parents with CPS involvement, Friend of the Court issues, or family court requirements. Focus areas include:

  • Child centered decision making
  • Healthy boundaries and structure
  • Co parenting communication skills
  • Reducing conflict around parenting time and discipline

Sexual Boundaries and Behavioral Risk Counseling

A confidential clinical space to address:

  • Consent, respect, and personal boundaries
  • Impulsivity and risk taking patterns
  • Shame reduction and self understanding
  • Developing a detailed safety and accountability plan

This service is a therapy program, not a formal sex offender risk assessment or psychological evaluation.

Shoplifting and Theft Prevention Counseling

A structured therapeutic program for individuals charged with retail fraud, shoplifting, or theft-related offenses. This program focuses on the behavioral, emotional, and situational factors that contribute to stealing behaviors, with emphasis on long-term change.

  • Exploring motivations, stressors, and impulsive patterns related to theft
  • Cognitive behavioral tools for decision making and impulse control
  • Values clarification and accountability development
  • Financial stress awareness and problem solving strategies
  • Building healthier coping mechanisms to replace harmful behaviors

Upon completion, clients receive a clinical completion letter that reflects participation and skills gained.

Driving Offense Related Therapy

Support for clients with OWI, DUI, reckless driving, or related offenses who are required to attend counseling. Sessions may include:

  • Exploring decision making patterns that led to the offense
  • Substance use screening and support
  • Risk awareness and safety planning
  • Values based goal setting

Specialty Court Programs

Counseling support for participants in:

  • Sobriety Court
  • Veterans Court
  • Mental Health Court
  • Youth or Young Adult Diversion Programs
  • Other specialty or problem solving courts

Services are coordinated to complement the expectations of the specialty court team.
